Jacquard produces high-quality and professional dyes for all sorts of fabrics and textiles. With this Tie Dye Indigo paint kit you can dye the most beautiful indigo patterns on cotton fabrics using the tie dye technique. Traditional indigo is a blue dye extracted from a plant. In the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, it was not accepted in Japan for the lower classes to wear bright colours, which is why indigo became popular. Indigo fabrics are known for their anti-bacterial properties. In fact, bad odours develop less in fabric dyed with indigo, and the fabric can provide relief to people with eczema. Indigo-dyed fabrics were also preferred by both samurai, since it could prevent wound infections, and by firefighters because of their fire-retardant effect.
The dye in this Jacquard kit is synthetic indigo, and therefore does not come from a plant, but has the same molecular composition and therefore the same effect. Tie dye is a special way of dyeing, in which fabrics are folded and tied with string or elastic to create unique patterns. This dye kit not only contains all the ingredients to make a dye bath, but also useful supplies and tools for the tie dye process, such as rubber bands and wooden sticks.
