Merino wool is ideal for sensitive skin; it doesn't itch or irritate. With 2-3 skeins of Maxi Soft yarn, you can knit a basic hat with a folded brim. Choose needles between 3mm and 4.50mm, depending on your desired firmness and gauge. For an even chunkier hat, combine the yarn with silk mohair (2-3 skeins of Maxi Soft, 1-2 skeins of silk mohair, needles around 5mm-6mm) or knit Maxi Soft double-stranded with larger needles.
The manufacturer's recommended needle size is 6mm for a gauge of 17 stitches and 21 rows = 10 cm.
